If this is your first Odd Job with us, we need to spend some time reviewing your website before we start. We also allow extra time for obtaining the appropriate login details we need to complete your Odd Job. This is factored into the fixed price we quote you. In most cases, additional Odd Jobs will be quoted at a lower price. You can also sign up for one of our monthly WordPress Care Plans – these are the most cost-effective way to sign up for regular Odd Jobs on an ongoing basis.

In most cases the answer is usually yes, but if you have an existing web developer that you normally work with then you should talk to them first before engaging us. If you’ve tried that route and they can’t/won’t help you then we’ll be happy to help you out.

If there a risk that your Odd Job could break your site then we’ll back up your site before starting so we can roll back quickly if we need to.

For some Odd Job requests, we may decline the request if we don’t believe we can safely mitigate this risk.

It depends on the Odd Job you’ve asked us to do. Simple content changes don’t normally require a backup first. For more complicated tasks we will usually take a backup first. IN some cases we will create a clone of your site on a separate server so we can complete your Odd Job on the clone to make sure nothing goes wrong. The price we quote for your Odd Job will include this.

There are different levels of access (“roles”) in a WordPress website. The top level of access is Administrator.

If you are logged in to your website, you can look for the Users tab in the WordPress admin dashboard. If you see options to add or delete users in that tab, then you are probably an Administrator of your website.

If you don’t see that option, and if you can’t see a Plugins tab in the admin dashboard, then you have been assigned a role that is lower than Administrator. You may need to talk to your regular web developer/support person to get your account upgraded to Administrator.

If we haven’t scoped your Odd Job properly, then we will still complete your Odd Job for the quoted price.

However, we may find after logging into your website that the task you want us to perform can’t be performed unless we complete other tasks first. For example:

• Your website isn’t running the latest software, and we need to upgrade your website first.
• There is a security issue that needs to be fixed.
• You need an extra WordPress plugin to allow us to do the job.

If this happens, we will contact you to discuss your options. Typically we would either re-quote including the extra work, refund your money, or suggest an alternative approach. The choice to proceed will be yours.

If your job is urgent, please call us to discuss whether we can help in the timeframe you need. We’ll always do our best, but can’t make any promises.

Please note that there is an extra fee for prioritising urgent jobs.

We normally migrate WordPress websites to our hosting service for free.

This does not include upgrading your website to the latest plugins/theme. If we need to do this then we will provide a separate quote (but only if we anticipate it will take more than 2 hours to complete). You may also need to pay for the latest version of  your theme or any premium plugins that your site requires to function properly.
